Daily Show With Guest: Barack Obama

There's 4 days left until the big US Presidential Election and oooh how I wish I could somehow register to vote! Obama is truly the People's CHAMP... love this guy! For those of you who missed it, Obama was on the Daily Show the other night, awesome stuff. Check it out.

WHAAA HAPPEN??!?!

HEEEEEEY NOW...... Okay, I would like to start off by apologizing to the people who actually read my Blog as I seem to have been out of commission there for a bit. The layoff has given me an abundance of garbage to blather on about though! Soooo I guess I'll start off with a strange night in sports on Wednesday to say the least. We had a 3 inning ball game to win the holy grail of Baseball. A Canadian, YES! a Canadian wins the world series EH! Much to the surprise of Phillies fans there was actually a basketball game Wednesday night... 6000 strong showed up to cheer the Sixers to defeat against our Raps. The Leafs win in a shootout??? I woke up this morning to gather myself with a bowl of fruit loops and some Sportscenter(DA DA DA, DA DA DA). It was all true... this Helloween inspired night of odd sports occurrences actually happened. So I guess we're at the point now where I say I was wrong about my boys(the Tampa Bay New Jays) bringing home the title. I put my money on the horse but she broke her leg at the end of the race and she had to be put down. There I was sitting at the edge of my couch throwing back cans of liquid gold thinking that maybe... just maybe my horse could climb back, waiting anxiously for an Evan Longoria BOMB Ala Joe Carter, a Johnny Damon-esk Grand Slam by BJ Upton... something! In the end it was definitely Philly's night, undefeated at home in the 2008 playoffs... how about that? Gotta hand it to em. You must admit though... what a freakin' exciting ride it was for the Rays. Such a young team, little to no playoff experience, 10 years of terrible baseball with last year being the worst in franchise history. They come back this year to top the AL East, 2nd in the AL, 3rd in the league. Anywho... the 2008 baseball season is finito, hurray for the 2009 World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays. The Raptors were looking pretty good Wednesday after the ugliest 1st quarter of basketball ever. Bosh hit 27 points, 11 boards... Kapono looked pretty nasty draining a couple treys for 15 points, my boy Jose with 13 points and the news that all Raps fans were waiting for...... Jermaine O'Neil 17 points, 8 boards, 0 injuries! 1-0, way to go BOYS! As for the Leafs... lets just leave that one alone. We won in a shootout??? I'm still in a state of shock... too much so to comment. I Guess that pretty much wraps up the night. I decided to save the best for last, wanted to give a big Congrats to (STONE COLD) Matty Stairs!!! Stairsy is a stand up guy, he's one of the classiest and most loved players in the game. The 40 year old pride of Saint John, New Brunswick has played 15 seasons in the bigs, has represented Canada on the international stage, has played for 11 teams in his career including the Expo's and the Blue Jays, and now has a world series to add to his belt. Way to go Stairsy... Canada loves ya! I'm out, Later Kids...

Record Low 59.1% Voter Turnout, 2008 Election

Sooooooo...... a record low 59.1% turnout for the 2008 election huh. I'm typically a pretty lazy dude but 59.1% really??? Did 39.9% of Canadians forget and sleep the whole day on Tuesday, was there a 50 Cent concert, maybe a sale at The Bay? I will tell you what did happen... 39.9% of Canadians through away their voice by giving up their right to vote, a right given to you as a Canadian Citizen! I don't quite understand it but regardless here we are at 59.1%, pretty embarrassing. I'm sure the majority of people who did vote made informed choices. I would have to say that this is much better then people voting for what they think is their favourite colour. In saying this now we don't have Canadians just being lazy, we have 39.9% of Canadians uninterested and unaware. So we end up in pretty much the same boat that we started in with the same Conservative Minority Government. Anyways... Congrats to Kirsty Duncan on her big W in Etobicoke North!

FROID IS VOTING LIBERAL

It is official! At 8:24 on the 14Th of October, 2008... I have finally figured out who I will be voting for in this election. I have decided to vote Liberal, Kirsty Duncan being one of my reasons for the decision. Kirsty is the Liberal candidate for the Etobicoke North riding. She is quite active in the community, working with such programs as Breaking the Cycle which assists youth to get out of gangs and lead productive lives. She speaks strongly about gun control and having more police officers on our streets. She was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which is a group of Nobel Prize winning Canadians. Her stance on the environment is consistent with the Liberal Green Shift which promises to put money back in taxpayers pockets! The Liberals are geared towards getting money back where in belongs... they will balance budgets, reverse deficits... aim at heath care, climate change, safer streets. At this point the Liberals are the only party that can overthrow this Harper Government. Froido is voting Liberal! http://www.liberal.ca/platform_e.aspx

MANHATTAN PROJECT... The Finished Product

Any Ideas For A Title?

a black and white photo of a legend lost and gone
the bearded man that sailed out amongst the fog
where he was heading no one gave a care at all
a solo journey to reflect what he had done

an unsung hero
labeled a zero
a fearless leader
they followed him into the night

his eyes tell a story of so many painful nights
blood soaked hands that saw the end of many lives
a face rough and weathered from seasons come and passed
he lived a life of sorrow now he's looking back

an unsung hero
labeled a zero
a fearless leader
they followed him into the night

once a leader of men now a lonely outcast
spends his dying days with regrets about his past
trapped in his clouded world he drinks his scotch and gin
he gave all he could and now he's giving in

an unsung hero
labeled a zero
a fearless leader
they followed him into the night

It's shaping up to be quite an interesting season. Everyone and their grandmother has counted out the 2008-2009 leafs. We have added a bundle of fresh young faces to our lineup. We are finally structuring our team around youth... a new concept for the shkeafs, instead of the usual trade all of our youth away for washed up/cry baby veterans with bad knees... yeah that means you, Sperm Stacheo Nolan! So with this strong foundation of youth, hart, and grit why couldn't the leafs be a contender for the cup in 2009? I say this half jokingly of course but seriously! I really don't think anyone is beating the Habs this season but as far as the rest of the Northeast Division goes... The Sens are looking pretty rough around the edges with goaltender trouble and a weak defense. The Sabres and Bruins both seem to be in the same situation they were in last season with the exception of Patrice Bergeron's return but who knows if he'll be the player that he once was after a near career ending hit last season. I'm thinking this season will be a bit of an emotional roller coaster for Leaf fans but in the end we might just have to consider this to be a 6 month preseason leading into the 2009-2010 season. The fact of the matter is that we are now in a rebuilding stage. The Penguins are a prime example what a team can do after rebuilding. The Pens cleaned house, drafted a couple of amazing players and launched an arsenal on the league eventually coming only a couple games shy of winning a Stanley Cup. I know it's been 41 years and it may not be this year but we're building a team to bring home that cup baby... you just gotta beLEAF!!!

Harper The Clown... It's time for change!!!

Well... here we are again, Election time... already? Here we are nearly 3 years into the Harper regime with a Conservative minority government which has not worked to say the very least, just imagine what an effin' nightmare a Conservative majority government would be! I find it pretty ridiculous that this douche bag PM calls an election that completely defies his own law regarding election timing... has it been 4 years? I'm not sure... my math isn't too good, let me break out the calculator. Harper has led us into the gutter, leaving a financial mess and our economy in shambles. In 3 years he has turned a record budget surplus into a deficit. He lost 2 billion+ dollars of tax revenue on a ridiculous income trust policy. He raised the personal income tax rate for the lowest bracket to help pay for record government spending... Spent upwards of $150,000 per weapon to arm border guards... He spent a massive amount on advertising prior to an election call. His Green shift otherwise known as the the I'll do nothing about climate change or the environment until forced to by the polls is a joke. Broke his promise on providing a health care waiting time guarantee. Pumped 2500 troops into Afghanistan slating 2011 as our pull out date, a couple years too late! He promised Veterans widows benefits and reneged. Forced another senseless vote in Parliament on same sex marriage. The list is endless, this guy is a clown! Above all he thinks that this is doing a service to Canadians! Where is Laurena Bobbit when you need her? Enough broken promises! Enough lies! SCREW Stephen Harper! it's time for change!!!

Wrote this song with Chris tonight... Not quite finished but you get the point

[Verse1]
A black and white photo of a legend lost and gone
the bearded man that sailed out amongst the fog
where he was heading no one gave a care at all
a solo journey to reflect what he had done
[Chorus]
an unsung hero
labeled a zero
a fearless leader
they followed him into the night
[Verse2]
his eyes tell a story of so many painful nights
bloood soaked hands that saw the end of many lives
a face rough and weathered from seasons come and passed
he lived a life of sorrow and now he's looking back
[Chorus]
and unsung hero
labeled a zero
a fearless leader
they followed him into the night

Keith Olbermann Slams Bush...

Thanks to Chico for showing me this... Really sums the past 8 years up doesn't it? Nice! Well done Keith!

Was sitting around with a heavy mind and this song that I wrote a couple years back came into my head...

NO PRIDE
The unwanted thoughts of you
I wish I never knew
Now I will take the bait
See this senseless torture through
Reaching for your escape
Is harder than once thought
I bury you in a grave of greatest fears
nightmares in real time
Soak up your tears
No Pride
No Pride
No Pride
You fight for nothing
No Pride
No Pride
No Pride
And Die for everything

A Good Read...

I Just got finished reading George Orwell's book 1984. If you haven't read it yet I highly recomend picking up a copy. It was written in 1949 and is really not much of a stretch from the times we live in today. It's basically about a Totalitarian Government which bases istelf on pure manipulation. It focus' on a simple man by the name of Winston. Winston represents the authoritarian regime of the party, he lives every day preforming the same deed not ever knowing the truth nor being able to break free from his clouded world due to "Big Brother" watching his every move. He seeks answers about the past, prestent, future, he seeks the truth. Winston begins a movement to rebell against the all powerful Big Brother and his government built on lies. His rebellion falls short as he is overtaken mentally, he is forced to scrap everything he believes in and conform to the times in which he lives. Frankie say... read the damn book! Do it... do it...

What A Show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing, phenominal... blew my socks off! what a show!!! Luckily i came prepared with an arsenal of fresh socks in my bag. Sooo there i was, sucking back a couple cans of liquid-gold in the beer garden when the surprise attack of Thrice hitting the stage before before Alkaline Trio struck. It threw me off guard but dont worry, i downed the beer and made my way to the front of the stage before you can say Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Thrice kicked ass as usual... to be expected. Alkaline Trio was mediocre at best, your typical Pop/Punk band, didn't really get me moving. I spent most of their set trying to remember what songs thrice just rocked the roof off with. Alkaline Trio left the stage, I tied my shoes tight, it was time for Rise Against. I was still jacked up from Thrice and was ready to drop some elbows. Rise Against hit the stage with a bang, i'm pretty sure lead singer Tim Mcllrath spit in my eyeball but i would forgive and forget. People were amped, I've been to many rough concerts in my time but i have never seen a pit this crazy! Bodies were flying around everywhere, shoes, shirts, limbs were airborn... it was a war. I figured an all ages show would bring out a bunch of 12 year olds... i was wrong, there were some big boys! So there I was, sandwiched between two heavyweights and about to pass out, I quickly pulled myself together and kept on rocking in the free world. When all was said and done I was soaked with the sweat of a couple hundred rocker kids. I was beaten, bruised, and broken. I woke up this morning with a painful smile on my face and a tingling sensation in my bum... oh baby what a show!!!

Rise Against, Thrice, TONIGHT!

It's like christmas day... It was not too long ago, I was sitting around thinking what concert I may be banging my head at next... what band that would destroy my hearing at the tone of 120 decibels ultimately shattering my inner ear. Being the avid concert goer/lover of music that I am, I could probably find about one concert each week to abuse my body at but who really has the time, money, or energy for that? It's just something about that close/personal bond you make with a band when they take the live stage in front of you, a euphohric numbing feeling always comes over me as i get lost in the music. I've now been to somewhere in the stratusphere of 100 concerts in my 24+ years. Tonight i'm going to see Rise Against for the first time. Rise Against are a Concious-Punk Pop group from Chicago, IL who are sure to rock the stage... definetly one of my favourite bands! As for Thrice... pretty much my favourite band in the world right now, hands down! I've had the chance to see Thrice 6 times(The Double Thrice) and they never seem to dissappoint. Thrice started off as a Punk/Metal band in Irvine Cali. They have really come into their own over the past couple years mixing many genres/styles, incorporating many different sounds, while still keeping that in your face Punk/Metal style. This is sure to be one effin' amazing concert!!!

Where Have All The Good People Gone?

I have been noticing more and more recently, the horrible characteristic's of People. Whether it be an act of kindness such as holding a door for someone, a simple hello, or a thank you for a gracious deed. Society has gotten stale, poeple have become selfish and utterly rude. It seems that somewhere along the lines we've forgotten how to be curteous and polite to one another. Are there no more decent people in this world? I guess Sam Roberts Said it best "Where have all the good people gone?"

WHY MATS?

I fail to understand how Mats Sundin became the official fall guy for a team in ruins. The faithful Leaf for the past 13 years, Captain for the past 10 has been at the business end of far too many hate filled comments to say the least. What I’m really trying to figure out is how a man so faithful to a team/city has become the one who we’re all going to point the finger of blame at. Why do no-trade clause even exist? It certainly seems that it’s for the sole purpose of tarnishing a mans reputation and dedication to a team that he loves! Sooooo we ask him to go at the trade deadline......
then we cry when he doesn’t want to come back? Really?!?!
